The Montoya Torres Family

Gelin is 32 years old and Victor is 44 years old. Gelin moved to Roatan about 17 years ago. Gelin grew up with her mom and her 6 siblings. She was just a baby when her dad abandoned her and her family. Gelin attended school up to 6th grade. Gelin’s mom worked for a Banana Company. She worked out in the fields planting bananas trees. She would also wash and iron clothes for other people and do some housekeeping as well. Gelin and her oldest sisters would go alongside their mom to help her wash and iron clothes and sometimes do housekeeping as well, so they could make more money to buy food for their family. Gelin has 1 child from her 1st and 2 children from her 2nd marriage. Ronald is 15 years old; he is in 11th grade. Due to the economic situation, Gelin’s mom decided to help her by allowing Ronald to stay with her in the mainland. Ronald’s dad abandoned him when Gelin was just a few months old pregnant with him. A couple of years later, she married Jared and Alison’s dad. Gelin’s 2nd marriage lasted 9 years. Jared is 13 years old; he is in 10th grade. Alison is 7 years old; she is in 2nd grade. During her marriage, Gelin and her husband both worked. Gelin worked as a cook at a dining place. Gelin’s husband worked at a supermarket displaying products on the shelves. Once Gelin separated from her husband, he also stopped helping her economically. He doesn’t keep in touch with Jared and Alison, he only talks to them on the phone once in while. Victor and Gelin met about 6 1/2 years ago. Oscar is 3 years old. Victor moved to Roatan about 10 years ago. He grew up with his mom and 4 siblings. Victor’s mom made homemade bread to sell it a bakery store she rented inside of a supermarket. Victor studied up to 6th grade. He studied and worked at the same time so he could support his mom and siblings. Victor worked helping his uncles selling out in the streets corn and rice in their trucks. Once he finished school; he started working as a construction helper, later on he started working as a bricklayer. A couple of months ago, Victor had to stopped working as a bricklayer because he got sick. He is suffering from sciatic nerve and column problems. Currently, Gelin works as a housekeeper at a hotel. She makes about $16 per day. They are currently paying for a piece of land. The Montoya Torres family needs our helping hand. Let’s build a home for this beautiful family.
