The Benítez Martínez Family’s current home.

Sindy and José met in Roatán, and they have been together for over 6 years. They have 3 children. Angelly is the oldest. She is 12 1/2 years old and in 6th grade. Eric is 5 years old, and Cataleya is 1 year old. Sindy grew up with her single mom as her dad abandoned them when she was only 1 year old. Sindy’s mom had a small convenience store. Sindy used to study and work at the same time during her high school years. She would work part time helping her mom at the convenience store, so that way she could help her mom make a little bit of extra income to pay for her studies. Sindy had the opportunity to graduate from 12th grade. After she graduated, she still stayed working alongside her mom. A couple of years later, she met José. Currently, Sindy works for part-time for someone at a market selling vegetables; she makes around $250 monthly. She tries to work every day that she can to earn a little extra money. She also works as a housekeeper and washing clothes; she does these additional jobs two or three times a month and earns $20 for each scheduled cleaning. Jose grew up with his mom, step-father and his 2 siblings. Jose was only 7 months old when his dad abandoned him and his family. Jose’s mom stayed at home taking care of him and his siblings. Jose was able to finish up to 6th grade with the help of his step-father. However, Jose dreamed of finishing his studies. He was able to work and study at the same time. Jose worked for several years at a block making company, and he was able to pay for his own studies during 7th - 9th grade. Unfortunately, he wasn’t able to continue his studies because he couldn’t afford it. He worked as a painter and installing drywall for about 5 years. Currently, Jose works as a security guard; he makes around $20 per day. Sindy and Jose own a piece of land, but can’t afford to build a home for their family. They need our helping hand. Let’s build a home for this beautiful family. We CAN DO it together!

LOS CONSTRUCTORES DEL REINO - MARCH 2025 BUILD

Heather and Brad Saunders:

We have served on foreign mission trips in Mexico, Ireland, and Haiti. While in the U.S. Army, Brad was stationed in Honduras and worked with the Army Corps of Engineers to build a bridge in one of Honduras departments called Yoro. We worked with Dwellings since 2019 and have previously built six homes for other families in Roatan. We are excited to serve together to build this house for Benitez Martínez family.

Celeste and Mike Prezioso

We initially visited Roatan, Honduras in 2017. After seeing the conditions that local families were living in, we had a strong desire to seek out better housing solutions for these hard working, but very poor families. We were very thankful to discover Dwellings, an incredible ministry whose mission is to provide housing for those in desperate conditions. We are looking forward to returning in March 2025 to work alongside the Saunders, our great friends from the US, who we have worked with to build six other homes in Roatán. Our team is very thankful for the support from many friends and businesses to provide funds for the material costs to build this much needed home for the Benítez Martínez family.
