The Ávila Vásquez Family
Jessica & Wilson have been married for over 15 years. They have 4 children, but the oldest one is Jessica’s daughter from her 1st marriage. Jessica was just 14 years old when she moved to Roatán. She struggled to survive there on her own, and decided to start working at a restaurant doing anything she was asked to do: clean, serve, and cook. A couple of years later, one of her uncles moved to Roatán, so she started working as a housekeeper, not only in his house but in other people’s houses as well. A couple of years later Jessica met her 1st husband. Unfortunately, he abandoned her once he found out she was pregnant. Jessica continued working as a housekeeper during her pregnancy and started working as a babysitter as well. After Jessica had her 1st baby, she started working as a gardener. Jessica’s 1st daughter Pamela was just 1 1/2 when she met Wilson. They have 3 children together: Samantha (11) is 5th grade, Wilson Jr. (7) is in 2nd grade, and Onexi is 2 1/2 years old. Pamela attended school up to 9th grade. Pamela is married to Alex, and they have a daughter, Alexandra, who is 16 month old. Alex works for a shipping company. He works in the storage department, in charge of package deliveries. Alex makes around $21 per day. Pamela and Alex have been married for 2 years. Once Jessica married Wilson she still worked as a housekeeper and started working as a cook as well. She stopped working when she had her last child, so she could take care of him. Wilson worked for many years as a truck driver for a purified water company delivering water in different communities. Unfortunately, he never made enough money to build a strong and comfortable place for his family, so he left about a year ago and took Samantha with him to cross to the USA. Currently, Wilson works in the States cutting trees and doing some construction as well. Currently, Jessica works as a babysitter on the weekends only, earning $20 per day ($160 per month). She also works as a housekeeper twice a week, earning $20 per day. She recently started making tortillas to sell a few times a week. Jessica, Alex and Pamela are doing everything they can to support each other, and Wilson is also helping them as much as he can to provide for his 2 boys expenses. They all dream of having a secure and comfortable place to live in. Let’s be part of of their dream. Let’s provide a home for the Ávila Vásquez Family!
