The Lopéz Guerrero Family

Josue and Luz have been married for 10 years but have been together as a couple for 18 years. They have two beautiful daughters. Samantha (13) loves drawing, singing and serving God in her church. She is in 7th grade and is a super charismatic and intelligent girl who dreams of being an artist. Luna (4) loves painting and is a super happy and smart little girl. Her parents pay a nanny to take care of her while they work. Josue and Luz are an exemplary couple who have worked hard to keep their family together. They have faced difficult times when they did not even have enough to eat, but their faith in Jesus has given them strength to keep moving forward. They have served Jesus in their church for 15 years, and this has been the key to staying strong and united for their daughters. They currently pay for a plot of land in the Franco Flat community in Coxen Hole, but they have not yet been able to afford to build a home. They pay for Samantha's education, rent, and other household expenses, making it impossible for them to build a house on the land. This couple's greatest dream is to provide a home for their daughters so they can have a different future than the one they had. For them, the most important thing is their daughters' education, which is why they work hard every day. They hope, with God's help, to have a home in the future. Josue is originally from the mainland. He was raised by his maternal grandparents because his mother decided to come to Roatan to work and help her parents and children. Josue says that his grandparents were extremely poor, but they gave him the most important thing in life, principles and moral values. They gave him a good education, and he always treasures that in his heart. His grandparents have passed away, but they live on in Josue's memory. At 14, Josue moved to Roatan with his mother because they could no longer support him. Here in Roatan, he studied until 9th grade, but had to stop because his mother's financial situation was very difficult. So, he decided to start working at 16 to help his mother and siblings. At 17, he met Luz, and they have been together ever since. Luz is originally from the mainland. Her parents were extremely poor; they could not read or write, but they made a sacrifice so Luz could study until she was 16 years old. Luz decided to come to Roatan to be able to work and help them. A year later she met Josue, fell in love with him, and they have been together ever since. Josue was the one who finished helping Luz so she could finish her studies and she managed to graduate in Hotel Administration. Currently she works as an administrator in a company that sends packages throughout the country. Josue works as a supervisor at one of the gas stations in Roatán.
